My teaching approach :
I do my best to pass along the knowledge of my years of experience. This saves my students a tremendous amount of time by avoiding the pitfalls and mistakes that I had to learn by trial and error. Every student learns at his or her own pace. I am very patient and friendly and try to adjust my teaching style to what the student needs. Students are encouraged to be literate, well rounded musicians who excel at the style of music they choose to study.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
A typical guitar lesson begins by checking our tuning then moving on to playing of our assignments for the week. Then I critique your performance and offer advice to help you improve. Then we work on new topics for the following week. The shape of lessons is really based on what the student needs and then direction they are taking.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
In the first lesson I found out about the student's history with music. Most importantly how long they have been playing or any other instruments they may have played. Then we talk about the things the student wishes to play or learn and take it from there.
