My teaching approach :
My main approach to teaching is adapting to the student's personal interest and goals. All lessons are customized to your level and availble practice time. As far as perfessional experience; I've been on several labels, I've played all over the country, and have written songs with top Nashville writers. I also help musicians prep for both college and/or careers in music. I'm an experienced songwriter and musician's mentor. I have references upon request to legitimize anything in question.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
My lessons are, again, customized to you. If you are just wanting to play song to jam with your friends. We would typically start off with chords and maybe a few strum patterns. Normally by the next lesson we would start working on your songs. If you are advanced or pro we would work on clarity of tone, timing, exotic modal sequences, chord building and inversions, composing and dictation...again according to what they want or plan to accomplish.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
Day one we start playing. I don't believe in wasting money or time. If the student's progress starts to stop or even degress at any point I will inform the parent/gardian/or investor. I always incourage my clients to enjoy learning and to be open with me if they feel they are not improving at a rate they are satisfied with.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
My ideal student is someone who is willing to absore knowledge from everywhere and is not afriad to fail a few times in order to succeed. I like when students challenge me mentally and love asking questions. I have several ideal students already and would love to have more.
