My teaching approach :
I am an entirely self taught guitar player. I have been playing seven years and it is truly my life's work. I have a particular book and combination of books that I use as texts, dont worry they arent expensive 13.00 on amazon. I have a bit of an unorthodox teaching style, I am more interested in getting the student to play the music that they want to play, and some that I suggest, to develop their technique and to show them that anything really is possible. I look forward to work with you.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
Typically I start with a review of the previous week which will only last a few minutes, depending on the particular student I will go through new areas of study, detailing particular ways that have worked for me, and finding out what will for each particular student. I always assign homework, based on the initiative of each individual student. My lessons always conclude with playing together to practice rhythm and timing and lead playing.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
With an experienced student I would simply ask them to play anything they felt comfortable with. A beginner, I would go over some basic terms ( the anatomy of the guitar for example) and show them some very effective stretching exercises to get your hands limber enough to do what you will ask of them to do.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
One who does their best, regardless of "natural talent." anyone can learn to play, and you have to believe that you can to be able.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
Typically, I teach in the evenings any day of the week if you email or call me we will be able to schedule a time based on both of our schedules, I know we are all busy.
My influences are:
Steve Morse, Leo Kottke, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Django Reinhardt
Fee Schedule :
I typically charge between 20 and 30 dollars for an hour lesson on a per lesson basis, meaning I come and you pay me. I have had many students who for whatever reason need to cancel a scheduled lesson and I dont feel its right for them to have prepaid for something that they did not get. I live in Hinesville, Ga so a travel fee may apply if you live in Richmond Hill or Savannah.
My cancellation/booking policy :
I prefer a 24 hour notice before the scheduled time of a typical lesson. I will do lessons weekly, bi-weekly, or even monthly, it all depends on what you would like. I will never charge for staying a little late to reinforce a concept to a level which both teacher and student find acceptable.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Cash
