Kenneth Lockhart guitar teacher / guitar instructor

My guitar lessons take place in:
The teacher's studio or the student's home
Teaching area :
I live in Caro, Michigan. I teach in Caro only; call for details.
Instrument Type:
Electric guitar, Acoustic guitar
Music Styles
Christian/Gospel Guitar, Jazz Guitar, Pop Guitar, Bluegrass Guitar, Country Guitar, Blues Guitar
Guitar Techniques:
Scales and Exercises, Music Theory, Reading Music, Jamming Skills, Vocal Accompaniment, Fingerstyle, Rhythm guitar
Levels taught :
Intermediate, Beginner
My teaching approach :
I have a passion for music, and more explicitly guitar. I believe I really can get the self motivated beginner quite a ways down the road, while knowing that there are tons of DVD courses available today, they do not offer that personal touch of the hands on instructor, which is what a lot of students really need. Also, the personal instructor fosters self discipline, because DVD courses often, though they try, just don't always cut it. Too much of the time, the courses (with exceptions) are designed to show off how good the instructor is, as opposed to really giving themselves to teaching.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
The first thing I look at in a guitar student is "What does this student currently know and comprehend?, and how can I get him/her from point "a" to point "b"? I will then start with about 5 to 10 minutes worth of warm up exercises. Theory is very important, and practice, practice, practice must be an all consuming passion.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
I ask questions, questions, and then more questions. The more I know about the students past musical experience and present knowledge, the more I can tell how I can help him/her.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
My ideal guitar student is disciplined, practices daily for at least short segments instead 2 twice a week for longer periods. If I have a student like this, then I have a student I can help and mold to be his/her best.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
Typically 11:00 until 6:00 PM., however open to other hours.
My influences are:
Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, many of the older or late stars of yesteryear. Not into acid rock, heavy metal. Don't "dig" any of those "disciplines"...
Fee Schedule :
$15 per 1/2 hour session.
My cancellation/booking policy :
24 hour notice please.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Cash
