My teaching approach :

My teaching approach revolves around giving the student a firm foundation in music education, but also having fun. Students will learn how to play their favorite songs, read music, learn music theory, guitar technique, and expand their musical appetite. I have taught guitar for 4 years with students ranging from 5 to 50+. I also graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a Bachelor's in Music. I've performed in church groups and ensembles fom 5+ years.

A guitar lesson with me might entail learning to play one of your favorite songs piece by piece, and also working on reading studies.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

I usually teach students the names of the strings, basic guitar technique, and get to know them within the first lesson. This involves how to hold the pick (or your hand if playing with no pick), how to fret the notes, proper placement for the thumb. I will also get a general feel for what types of music the students like.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

My ideal guitar student would be open and eager to learning how to play, and they would also have a good work ethic. They would come to the lesson having practiced at least 15 minutes per day since our last time meeting.

I teach guitar lessons Monday-Friday from 3pm to 8 pm. Weekend lessons might be an option.

My influences include Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, John Mayer, Steve Cropper, Joe Perry, Brent Mason, Carlos Santana, Joni Mitchell, and many more.

Fee Schedule :

I charge $25 per half hour lesson and $45 per hour lesson. Lessons are to be paid for at the beginning of the month.

My cancellation/booking policy :

Students will still be charged for the lesson if they do not cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before the regularly scheduled time. I'm pretty understanding when it comes to emergencies, so please just let me know in advance if you have a scheduling concern.
