My teaching approach :
My goal in teaching is to help my students find enjoyment and satisfaction in music. Because no two people share the same goals or learn the same way, I strive to develop a flexible, customized program for each student.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
A typical lesson would include work on technique, chords, chord exercises, strums, and repertoire (songs of the students choice). When requested I also teach reading and theory.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
In an introductory lesson, I try to get a sense of the students goals and interests. I want to know what kind of music they enjoy and what kind of music they want to play. I ask about the students experience on guitar and assess their current playing ability with various exercises. This tells me how to proceed with the student.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
An ideal guitar student is simply one who has fun playing music. If a student didn't get as much practice done during the week as we both would have liked, it's no big deal. We can still accomplish things during the lesson time and continue to move forward.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
I teach Monday through Friday during almost all hours. The only exception to this is that I do not teach Friday nights due to my playing schedule.
My influences are:
My main teaching influence is Chuck Anderson. He is a legendary teacher/player from the Philadelphia area. I have been studying with Chuck as long as I have been studying guitar. My main playing influences include Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayer, Derek Trucks and Wes Montgomery. I am also influenced by non-guitarists such as bassists, pianists, etc.
Fee Schedule :
I charge $25/half-hour and typically recommend at least an hour per week.
My cancellation/booking policy :
I request at least 24 hours notice for a cancellation so I am able to move my schedule around properly. I book students for a weekly slot that belongs to them. If I need to reschedule I try to give as much notice as possible, usually at least a week.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Cash, Checks, Money Orders, Paypal
