My teaching approach :
Each lesson is catered specifically for each student. I burn a cd of every lesson so you can hear the practice speed, your goal speed and then, how I would play it. The cd also allows for motif development (soloing). I record 2 minutes of relative chords to solo over using particular scales. I am also on call 24 hours a day with any questions that you may have. Let me help you love the guitar
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
We discuss new chord voicings and shapes. Then, apply them to an actual progression and play them in several different styles. After the shapes have been digested, we will study the how we can solo/improvise within the chord shape and what is just outside of the shape to express yourself musically.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
An introductory lesson would entail saying and then playing every chord that you know. That always gives me an exact answer to the question, "Where is this person in their quest for guitar knowledge?".
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
Someone who can be dedicated to practicing at least 1 hour per day and have the material learned.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
I teach any day of the week, almost any hour. To be a good teacher, you have to have a flexible schedule.
My influences are:
I have too many influences such as.... George Benson, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Hunter, Paco De Lucia, Jesse Cook, Oz Noy, Ernie Isley, Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, John Williams, Charlie Christian, Grant Green, Kenny Burrell, Django Reinhardt, etc...
Fee Schedule :
I am $50.00 per session (normally over one hour) cash only, with a cd and your book that we will fill in accordingly. I also have over 3,000 cds and dvds that I let the student choose from to hear new music to get inspired. I do not bias the student by my playing style. I help the student find their own voice and tone.
My cancellation/booking policy :
If you cancel, I need 24 hours notice. If you do not show up or call to cancel, then you are charged for the lesson anyway. I am very understanding and flexible. If you show up and you have not practiced, then I will drop you. You need to practice at least an hour a day or I am not the teacher for you. I do not like wasting my time or yours.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Cash
