My teaching approach :

I teach my students to be professional guitarists and ultimately they learn how to teach themselves! I assess the student's current level, discuss where they would like to take their music and go from there. I have a systematic and logical approach to teaching building a foundation first. We can make backing tracks if the student is learning lead guitar. We practice writing, sight reading, ear training. Then move into performance with or without vocal.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following

Instruction usually starts with learning the tools; scales, arpeggios and chords in all keys and all positions. We then move to specialization after the foundation is laid and stabile. The student must be willing to commit to regular practice.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

I have them play a song if they can, sing if they can. Then I will ask series of questions with regard to the student's knowledge of music theory, harmony and test the student's mechanical skills on the guitar. We will discuss where the student currently is with thier playing level and what they would like to achieve with thier music.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

Coachable, humble, serious enough to learn the lessons well and willing to put the necessary time into practice. For beginners that is 30 minutes per day advancing eventually to 2 hours per day or more depending on the student's goals.

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

Tuesday- Thursday after 7PM and Saturday 11AM- 2PM.

George Benson, Joe Pass, Eagles, Jim Croce, Irish folk, American folk, Brent Mason, Chet Atkins.

Fee Schedule :

$20 per 1/2 hour or $35 per hour.

My cancellation/booking policy :

Student must cancel at least one day before lesson unless emergency. If teacher cancels lesson will be made up.
