My teaching approach :
Hello student of music! I have been instructing guitar/bass in the Orlando/Central Florida area since 1996. All students are treated as individuals. Everyone learns at their own pace and level. Chord vocabulary, soloing; reading, learning, writing and creating songs, basic theory, practicing techniques, exercises. It is my job to help each student reach his or her goals in music. I am a private instructor. All lessons will be done in your home (or preferred place of practice), for your convenience and comfort. Thank-you for reading and I hope to hear from you soon.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
Most lessons are one hour. The first part of the session is a review of the lesson the student was given to practice, followed by question.answers about the lesson. Depending how much time is taken in the lesson, something new is introduced to the lesson as a sort of application to the review. By the end of the lesson, the student and I have a 10-15 minute jam session. It's always best to leave the lesson with smiles on their faces.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
The first lesson is a sort of "orientation". Getting to know the student, his/her goals for the lessons, what they can play or have learned so far. The following lessons can take several directions. Usually, a student is given chords to practice along with strumming techniques, then finger stretching exercises, and very basic theory to start. By the 3rd & 4th lessons, the student usually sees the fruition of his/her practice.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
The ideal student practices his/her guitar as much as possible. I push creativity in my lessons. I challenge all of my students to come up with new ideas for songs. An ideal student practices because he/she wants to truly learn the art of music, and commit the time and honest effort. Excuses are for the student, not me. The difference between playing and practicing your guitar: Playing is what you know, practicing is what you don't know.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
I do "in-you-home" lessons exclusively. Lessons are scheduled Monday through Friday 1:00pm-9:00pm. Saturday lessons are also available, but limited upon request.
My influences are:
Everything from ABBA to ZZ Top. I have been a guitarist since the mid-1970's. There are far too many influences to list here. Just about every form of classic rock, pop, jazz, blues and country.
Fee Schedule :
45 minute lessons are $45 each Hour lessons are $50 each * ALL students MUST pay for four lessons minimum. ∙ 45 minute lessons - $160/four lessons ∙ 60 minute lessons - $200/four lessons (Rates may vary depending on location, travel time and tolls) Bulk lessons of ten are also available at a discounted rate.
My cancellation/booking policy :
If you plan to discontinue lessons permanently or indefinitely, I require a verbal notice upon your payment (four lessons) for your final series. This will allow me enough time to schedule another student in your lessons time slot. I send out a bulk e-mail to all of my students scheduled each week. This is to insure and confirm the students time slot and the day of the lesson. I also post the number of lessons for the series each student has prepaid. I require at least 24-48 hours notice for any and all cancellations. If you cannot make a lesson, you must inform me as soon as you can, either via e-mail, text or phone call. If I am given less than 24 hours notice before your allotted lesson time, you will be asked to forfeit that lesson. I give plenty of time for all of my students to be responsible enough to confirm their scheduled lesson time and date. It is very important that I receive each students confirmation promptly to avoid issues with scheduling and logistics. If a student is sick, becomes sick, think that they are going to be sick, I must be called immediately. If I need to cancel a lesson, I will contact you via e-mail, text or phone call, as soon as I can. The lessons scheduled will be moved to another time/date. The only time I will accept a last minute cancellation is for personal or family emergencies.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Cash, Checks
