My teaching approach :

I believe a student needs to have lessons based upon their own ability and experience. I use my adaptive method is based upon the fact that every individual has their own level ability and dexterity. My adaptive method zones in on the currently skill level whether you are a beginner or intermediate player and puts into playing and feeling comfortable with your instrument. I will show you how to develop your own style and make a popular song your own. I will teach you techniques for playing confidently and how to improvise and 'jam" so you can play with other players.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following

I always start lessons with a very brief warm up which is typically a couple of minutes of a familiar chord progression and basic strumming technique. Next there will be a review the previous week’s lesson. If we have had several lessons we may go back and play some of those lessons as well and work on selected sections. The last half of the lesson is for new material. New material is based upon the student’s selection from the previous week or by email 48 hours prior to the lesson.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

For beginners we will talk about the instrument and the different parts. I will see very quickly how familiar the student is with the instrument. I will tune the instrument and make sure everything is in good working order. We will discuss how to tune and maintain the instrument. For players with any type of experience we will play a few chords and in the first few minutes of playing I will be able to evaluate the students level and confirm that I can help the student improve their playing. I have been playing for 40 years.
