My teaching approach :

I find out my students' needs. Then I tailor lessons to meet those needs. Using small, step by step exercises I scaffold the learning so that the student can make small, but solid, incremental steps to improving their musicianship.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following

A typical 45 minute lesson for a beginner might be: - A minor pentatonic scale in first position - A I V IV progression; eg A D E - Alternate picking - Hammer ons - The names of the notes - How to use the jam track and metronome

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

I have them play me a simple song if they know one. If they are truly a complete beginner I show them how to hold the guitar and plectrum and go through the string names and simple chords, such as A5, E5 and D5.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

A student who wants to learn and who isn't afraid to noodle around and make mistakes while exploring the instrument.
