My teaching approach :
I try to tap into a student's potential and not just have them rely on tried-and-true guitar licks. I am a national endorser w/Ibanez guitars (8 years) and currently have a fifth album coming out sometime in the Spring. I encourage students to really dig deep into themselves and discover ideas they never knew they had. You can tell by the way I look that students won't be learning "Mary Had A Little Lamb". I also have an Associates Degree in Music from Bergen Community College and have been playing guitar for 32 years.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
Guitar lessons vary from student to student. Some students request they warm up with me, others do that prior to my showing up for their lesson. I always ask what the student's needs are, that's a priority. I never push my ideals on my students, unless they ask me to give them something different to challenge themselves.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
Intro lessons start off very light yet I make sure they are armed with the proper "techniques" to get them motivated right away. Proper picking, wrist control, and playing the notes cleanly are of utmost importance to start.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
An ideal student genuinely cares about progressing and opening new doors, whether it be a new set of chords or a handful of crazy licks. I expect my students to leapfrog over me and become the best player they can possibly be.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
I teach Mondays through Thursdays after 5pm. Each lesson is one hour long.
My influences are:
Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Vernon Reid, Uli Roth, Eliot Fisk, Chris Broderick, Jeff Loomis, Allan Holdsworth, John McLaughlin, Prince, and a ton of classic metal bands.
Fee Schedule :
I charge $50 for one hour. There are no negotiations at all. I do not teach half-hour lessons.
My cancellation/booking policy :
I understand that things come up that are beyond a student's control, such as a family emergency. Outside of that, I do not tolerate lessons being cancelled hours beforehand. If a lesson is 6pm and the student cancels at 3 or 4pm (barring a family emergency), I still expect payment. I only accept cash.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Cash
I have been teaching guitar for:
15 Year(s)
