I design my curriculum based on the student's needs and what they want to achieve musically. I guide students through the fundamentals but most importantly, I provide the student the skills needed to apply musical concepts for the rest of their lives!
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
Lessons are very casual. I'll usually begin by asking the students what song or technique they want to learn. I make the lessons fun, but also informative.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
First, I'll ask if they've had any experience playing the instrument. Also, I'll ask them what they want to achieve as far as technique and learning repertoire (learning how to strum, learning chords, etc.). Then I'll see what common issues they may have with playing and offer exercises to fix those problems. Afterwards, I'll suggest that the student makes a practice schedule along with action steps to help achieve their goals.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
My ideal student possesses a strong will to learn something new each day, is motivated to consistently practice, asks questions, focuses during the lesson, and most importantly, has fun!
