My teaching approach :

These are your guitar lessons. I teach all styles and subjects you are interest in. In addition to private lessons I have also teach at The National Guitar Workshop, Guitar Intensives and The Center for Creative Youth. I also write lessons and essays for Taylor Guitars' Wood & Steel magazine. - All levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. - All styles: Rock to Classical - Folk to Funk - Country to Jazz Experimental to Pop - You name it! - Theory, Composition, Songwriting, Notation and/or Tablature. - Soloing, songs, scales, chords, modes, improvisation, etc.

My lessons are based on a lot of interactive playing, learning songs, learning the theory and musical concepts behind those songs. I make all lessons as practical as possible to give students tools and concepts for maximum versatility.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

I recommend bringing a list of songs, guitarists and styles students are interested in learning. I give A LOT of handouts in tablature and standard notation.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

My ideal student knows what music he or she likes but also has an open mind. I teach ALL styles and the jazz guitarist can learn from country music, the metal player can learn from blues. An open mind!

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

T, W, T the occasional Sat. and Sun. 8am-9pm

My influences are:

Leo Kottke, Angus Young, John McLaughlin, Frank Zappa, James Brown, Larry Coryell, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen...basically all the greats and several unknowns.

Fee Schedule :

$50 an hour, paid one month in advance, $200 for 4 lessons. 24 hour cancellation policy.
