My teaching approach :
I like to meet students where they are in their journey with music. I'm not going to teach you a bunch of things you don't want to know or aren't interested in learning. I'm going to help you reach your full potential as a guitarist and as a musician. I have played in quite a few bands and done quite a few solo performances. Watch my YouTube videos for references. Or visit my website for playing demos. I also have professional recording equipment (Pro Tools) and often record entire tracks by myself.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
An hour lesson would include working on 4-5 key areas. 1. Technique (Scales and Exercises) 2. Repertoire (Metal to Jazz, whatever you like) 3. Improvisation and Jamming 4. Musicianship 5. Student Specific Concerns I typically spend 10 to 15 minutes on each area, but it really depends on the student and what they need at the time. I want them to get the most for the money they spend on a lesson with me. My goal is to help you be the best.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
I get to know them a little better. Find out how long they've been playing and what kind of music they like. I look over their gear and I hear them play for me so I get a feel for where they are at. Then i will play for them to show them I am able to help them. I will then give my first thoughts and things that will immediately help them as players.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
Someone who is motivated and does the things I tell them to do in order to get better. If you don't do what I suggest you're wasting mine and your time. Daily practice is a must. It doesn't matter if its only for 10 minutes. This is the slight edge philosophy I teach to all of my students which I will go in depth about during my lessons.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
I teach on Tuesday's until 6, Friday's all day, Saturday's all day, and Sunday's after church around 1.
My influences are:
Too many to list but here's a few: Hendrix, SRV, Joe Pass, Chet Atkins, Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, Steve Vai, Many, many more.
Fee Schedule :
I typically do 35$ an hour if you come to my studio, and $40-50 depending on how far I have to travel to your house. You can pay me monthly or on a per lesson basis. I take checks, and also credit cards through paypal.
My cancellation/booking policy :
My schedule changes a lot so I will be on top of letting you know if I have to reschedule. I expect the same out of my students. Please let me know 24 hours in advance if you have to reschedule.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Paypal, Cash, Checks
I have been teaching guitar for:
3 Year(s)
