My teaching approach :
I have developed an approach over 34 years of teaching in Nashville that works wonders with beginners and intermediate students. There is a wealth of information and tons of references on my website, including music professionals. I have video clips of some of my students playing and even performing on national TV. Please check out my website.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
The first thing I do is set up a free consultation so I can find out what the student is doing already, if anything, and determine what the best way to get the student to their goal is. I teach every person somewhat differently, depending on what they want to do, and how much time they have, etc.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
I listen to them play, and talk to them , and may give them some tests to determine what their skill level is in terms of picking up new chords, and strumming and picking apptitude, etc. I have 34 years of experience with this, and all of my students can play at least functionally well, many are pro-level players after two or three years.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
Somebody who is pretty eager to learn, and willing to put in the time and effort that it takes to be good at it.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, all day and early evening.
My influences are:
Too many to reference. Heres a few: Beatles, Doc Watson, Allman Brothers, Motown, Stax, Byrds, Hendrix, Zeppelin, all 50s, 60s, 70s, some 80s. I can figure out anything.
Fee Schedule :
Generally, weekly lessons are currently at $42 per half hour. Many students take every-other-week lessons. I pack a lot of technique into every lesson, and my students learn fast. Again, my website contains all pertinent info.
My cancellation/booking policy :
All scheduled lessons must be paid for, even cancellations. Makeups are available with 24 hours notice of cancellation.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Cash, Checks
