My teaching approach :
Improvisation and jamming are my number one priority, it's easier than most people realize. I prepare my students to play any popular American music. I specialize in getting a student to take the leap from basic chords to extended chords, single note line solos, and chord solos. I do not teach songs. I will give you techniques that will allow you to play any song or create your own music. I love playing jazz, and love to pass that on, but the tools that we use will apply to anything.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
The lesson will consist of a basic concept such as a Major Blues Scale, and we'll explore the chords that you can use this over, with an explanation of why it works. We'll do the same for Diminished Runs, Chord Shapes, Modes, etc... We will only use enough theory to get the student ready to jam.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
We start by learning what it takes to be a MUSICIAN, not just another guitarist who learns a few licks.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
The ideal student is someone who has already been playing for 2, 5, or 20 years, and just needs a boost to advance their playing. Lesson's don't have to be eternal, a month or two of lessons can be plenty to give you things to work on for months.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
Evening hours, 7 days per week.
My influences are:
Barney Kessel, Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, Hank Garland, Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, Tal Farlow.
Fee Schedule :
$25 for a 45 minute lesson.
My cancellation/booking policy :
We'll use common sense. Don't make life a hassle for me, and I'll make everything easy for you. I honestly prefer students who just call me and book individual lessons rather than weekly regulars (although I do that as well). I feel like when you call and want a lesson that day or the next day that you are motivated and ready to play.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Cash, Checks, Paypal
I have been teaching guitar for:
