My teaching approach :

I cater my style to the student with a big emphasis on playing/performing and even writing SONGS. Songs are the light at the end of the tunnel...and I aim to get my student to do that in a proficient and FUN way.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following

We may start with dexterity exercises...get into playing chords and chord progressions, some ear training and interval training, playing different rhythms, listen to music and play along...together...as if we are a band!

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

I get the student to play little ditties on the guitar...by the end of the lesson I can tell who has had fun, who will pick it up quickly, and they usually end up being able to play "Let It Be." (Besides being a performing musician for 20 years, I have had 12plus years teaching elementary school...so I have had many students over the years...)

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

Excited, patient, listens to music, knows what songs he/she likes, and wants to practice at least 20 minutes a day.

My influences are:

I grew up listening to Buddy Holly, Beach Boys, Beatles, R.E.M., U2. I have been in bands- toured all over the country playing the styles of alternative rock, Americana, and Pop. I have been a songwriter for a band that got some nice placements in tv.

Fee Schedule :

$65/hour- In-home lesson (I go to you) $55/hour at my home studio Payment for a monthly block of lessons is due at the first lesson of the month.

My cancellation/booking policy :

24 hour cancellation policy. No exceptions. If you find out earlier in the month, after you have paid for your block, that you will need to move a time, I will give you up to 3 months to make up that lesson time.
