My teaching approach :

I offer Guitar and Bass Lessons for all ages/levels/styles. This includes acoustic or electric guitar. Beginners are welcome. Each of my students receives a solid musical foundation consisting of instruction in the areas of technique and relaxation, music theory, ear training, melody, rhythm and reading. I also focus on teaching the student music that is fun to play and that corresponds to the particular style that they are interested in, ranging from rock, metal, country or jazz to classical music. I teach in a relaxed, friendly, professional style that makes students feel comfortable and produces results. Lesson plans are flexible, depending on the interests, goals and skill level of the student.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

During the introductory lesson, we discuss the student's goals and music preferences. I might have the student play me a piece that he/she is comfortable with, but, as I explain to them, this is not a test. It just gives me an idea of what the student has been working on. I also explain my teaching philosophy and methods. I then give the student an assignment based on their skill level.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

That is simple. The best students are the most motivated students, not necessarily the most "talented" students. I've found, in over 25 years of teaching, that one of the most important components of success in learning the guitar, is consistency. Progress doesn't always have to require an "intense" effort. It can be leisurely, relaxing and fun, but the effort needs to be consistent, on a weekly basis. This approach always produces results.

I teach from 11am to 9pm Mon thru Thurs and 11am to 5pm on Sat and Sun.

In all my years of playing professionally, it is very difficult to narrow down my influences, as I've learned so much from many great teachers and players. However, some of my favorite players are Tommy Emmanuel, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Pat Metheny, Eddie Van Halen, Mark Knopfler, Alex De Grassi, Chet Atkins, Jorma Kaukonen, Steve Howe, Albert King, Albert Collins and Larry Carlton.

Fee Schedule :

1st LESSON IS FREE! Lessons start at $30 per 1/2 hour at my Bellport studio. I also offer a 50min lesson for $45. Small travel charges apply for lessons at the student's home, outside the Bellport, Brookhaven, East Patchogue area.

My cancellation/booking policy :

I have a 24 hr cancellation policy. Payment is monthly.
