My teaching approach :

Most players begin with technique and learn to recognise the tones they play as they learn to move their fingers. My goal is to instill right away an understanding of the theory of the instrument so that you immediately begin to play what you like to hear. Every students' needs differ and each eventually develop their own voice. I strive, with all diligence, to most effectively instruct you as your needs demand.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following

Depending on what questions you may have we generally take the first third of the lesson to review what was taught in the previous one. If your grasp of the material is satisfactory then we take the next third to learn something new. The last portion is a synopsis of what we've covered so far and any misgivings, questions, comments, compliments or smart remarks are welcome. We cover tone recognition, theory and chops at every lesson.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

Meet and greet as the student would like then I test your playing skills and know-how with target questions and postural inspection. I ask about your knowledge of theory, whether you have experience with other instruments, and I ask you to hold and play the instrument in the way you feel is the most appropriate. I look at the mechanics of the hand; posture; and finger positions and make adjustments accordingly for most effective practice.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

Someone who follows directions, is not defensive (you've come to learn), and is willing to practice what I give them AT LEAST 5 MINUTES A NIGHT; six nights a week. This kind of dedication will guarantee your education and shows me that you actually want to play.

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

Sunday 3pm to 9pm; Monday- Friday 8am to 9pm

Fee Schedule :

Payment is expected at the time of the lesson.

My cancellation/booking policy :

Students must be willing to give me twenty-four hours of notice so that I can most effectively adjust my schedule; otherwise the student agrees to pay me for the cancelled appointment. There is, of course, exemption for emergencies.
