My teaching approach :
I design a specific program for every student's personal needs and goals. Ideally, I want to foster a drive to perform in front of people, but mainly, I feel that keeping my beloved artform alive and passing it along is most important.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
It would begin first with tuning, always. Review of previous lesson material would then take place, some jam time and free improvisation on said material, followed by introduction of new material, handout of more written materials, and a nice conclusion.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
I let the student and their family speak first about what their specific goals are. It could range from "just for fun" to a conservatory audition. I have programs for all of these.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
My ideal guitar student is one who is as passionate about getting better as I am, and wants to remain a student forever like I do. My ideal student is one who dreams of becoming a professional.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
I perform most nights, so I spread out students from after lunch to early evenings most weekdays. Monday and Tuesday evenings are also ideal for some people, and I am off more often on those nights.
My influences are:
The usual suspects: Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck. But I have one degree in classical guitar and another in jazz. I have influences in every style.
Fee Schedule :
$30 per half hour, $50 per hour. In-home service is $80 per hour. This rate is based competetively, and on my education and experience.
My cancellation/booking policy :
24 hours minimum. This goes for the student AND me. And the lesson will be made up at the students convenience. Less than 24 hours, the student pays for the lesson. Acts of God and emergencies do count, of course.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Cash, Checks, Money Orders
I have been teaching guitar for:
15 Year(s)
