My teaching approach :

I teach from the ROOT on every string and how the ROOT is used to build a scale, chord, arpeggio and diatonic chords. Rhythm is started by dividing beats into quarter, eighth, triplet and sixteenths, syncopation. Number system of shorthand, eleven = two bars of the 1 chord; forty-five is one bar of 4 and one bar of 5.
