My teaching approach :
I like to focus on what the individual likes to learn whether it be to read music, learn some chords, scale exercises, or a song they love. I do like to stress the importance of reading music, but also like to make sure the student is learning. After all, guitar playing is suppose to be fun! As far my equipment, i'm ready to bring any guitar required to the lesson with an amp, and my laptop.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
Depending on the student, we can work from a book, or a manuscript filled lessons i teach them to practice. If the student is advanced enough, i like to start with scales, get the fingers warmed up, a little sight reading to keep the skills sharp, and work on the main lesson (improvisation, a song, a piece, scale studies, or theory. .
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
Usually i assess their skill level, and from there we figure a course for their playing to take. For absolutely beginners, i usually use a guitar book to build up their music reading skills/rhythm, and get their hands use to fret board.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
My ideal guitar student is one who shows enthusiasm for music/guitar, who is willing to practice, shows discipline in the lessons, and who is consistently in the lessons every week. The minimum amount of time to practice is at least 20 minutes four times a week. More is definitely preferably, but i understand schedules don't always allow for that.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
At the moment since it's summer time, i'm pretty flexible, it's easier to contact me to talk about a schedule. I'm not available Tuesday or Wednesday.
My influences are:
Soo many, but to name a few Metallica, Green Day, Nirvana, Seether, Days of the New.
Fee Schedule :
For Lessons it's $25 for 30 Min or $40 for the Hour. You have to pay in advance for the whole month. If you start lessons in the middle of the month, you only pay for the remaining weeks.
My cancellation/booking policy :
Payment is due in full on the first lesson of every month. Once payment is received, it will not refunded. I require 24 hours of advance notice for cancelled lessons for makeups. If you do not cancel a lesson within 24 hours of your scheduled time, you will not receive a makeup. If you miss or cancel the makeup lesson, it will not be rescheduled.
