My teaching approach :

I teach students the theory behind the music that they enjoy. I employ the thought "give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for life" I don't just teach songs. I develop the student's ear so they can learn songs on their own and eventually write their own!

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following

I typically start with chord and scale exercises and move into a song, explaining the theory behind it and the physical techniques.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

I start with the basic chords in the most common keys to the guitar, C G D A and E and there pertaining scales. As a particular key is learned, several song examples are covered as well.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

My students range from 2nd graders to adults. Many are involved in bands and worship teams and come to me for real world application of their instrument. I also work with groups of 3 to 5 in a "band lab" setting to explore band dynamics and understanding of each role in a group.

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

I teach Monday through Friday from 2 to 8.

Fee Schedule :

Individual lessons are $72/month for 1/2 hour lessons once a week. Band Dynamics classes are $50 per block. Each block consists of 6 one hour sessions over 6 weeks.

My cancellation/booking policy :

I require a 48 hour notice for a lesson cancellation. When notification is given we will reschedule the lesson or prorate the following month. I ask for one week's notice of termination of lessons.
