My teaching approach :

Supportive, friendly and very practical instruction for new guitar players. All are welcome to take a free trial lesson, no obligation to continue. Do a free lesson, think it over and if you want to schedule regular weekly lessons, contact me and we'll set up a time. Recording equipment at No Strings Guitar allows us to record your lessons in video and/or audio, if you like. Some folks like this and some don't, so it's up to you. It can serve as a good review between lessons, and is offered at no additional charge, if you'd like to do it.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following

Lessons at No Strings Guitar Studio are highly personalized to the musical interests of each student. Right from the start, I ask you to scribble down a list of recording artists and songs that you like. Your lessons will be planned to allow you to play the music you love while you learn basics. Part of lesson time is spent in review, and part in learning new skills and material.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

The first lesson is always FREE. This gives interested students a risk-free chance to try it out and see how they like it. Depending on age and interests, I teach a couple beginner-friendly open chords and tips on getting good clean sound. Names of the string, some simple finger exercises. I find out what you like to listen to, and plan future lessons so you get to learn things you really like while learning the basics that you need to know.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

I love the enthusiasm of beginning players, partly because I'll always remember how much I wanted to learn to play in third grade (many years ago!). I was very fortunate to find a great teacher who worked with his students on songs they loved and wanted to learn. That's my approach, too. Get you playing real music fast! The fast results will make you want to continue learning. I also like teaching intermediate players.

Fee Schedule :

Free trial lesson. If you want to continue, it's $15 per half hour session, once weekly. Consider paying for the month in advance at the first of the month ($60). Students who choose this option get a free lesson in all of the 5-week months.

My cancellation/booking policy :

Please note that 24 hour notice is requested for cancellations. If you have a real last minute emergency, I'll take that into account. If you don't call and simply don't show up, the lesson will be forfeited with no refund. With 24 hours of advance notice, I'll try to schedule a makeup lesson for you.
