My teaching approach :
I am an industry veteran, meaning I am fluid with equipment, in addition to my many years of teaching and performing. My approach is individualized, using creative, modern techniques that create rapid results. My goal is to guide you towards your musical goals. Your music, not mine! Music is supposed to be joyous, fun, not somber! Practicing can be very enjoyable if you are shown how to do it
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
That depends entirely upon the person. At first, conversation--to share information about one another. Then, if the student has any musical experience, to explore that. Afterwards, to get them comfortable with the instrument. My approach is gentle.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
If they already can play, I listen to them. I ask them what their frustrations are. If they have played another instrument before, we can talk about how that knowledge is still worth something to them. It is basically pretty friendly and straightforward.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
I don't have an "ideal" guitar student, because they are always different. Some guitar teachers try to simply make clones of their own style, experience, what they do. My idea is to find the potential, the dreams in someone wishing to play, and help them achieve that.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
This is flexible. To be discussed in the initial phone call.
My influences are:
I am a full-fledged musician. That means I will enjoy listening to almost anything, if there is heart and soul and skill in back of it. Music is historical. I am always listening.
Fee Schedule :
I typically teach 1 hr. lessons, which are forty dollars. Most older students do best with an hour. Very young children should take half hour lessons due to endurance and attention span issues--developmental stuff. It is unreasonable to have a young person play and think hard for an hour straight. Usually.
My cancellation/booking policy :
I try to be lenient and flexible, but it is, after all my means of living. I take it case by case, but barring an emergency, I need advance notice. Too close, I might have to bill you or schedule a makeup lesson. It's best just to try and work together and keep things as consistent as possible, that is very important to your progress!
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Cash, Checks, Money Orders, Paypal
I have been teaching guitar for:
36 Year(s)
