My teaching approach :
I believe that everyone has the ability to play music and that we can all enjoy the benefits of doing so. We all have different paths that can take us there and it is my job to help each student find their best path. I have worked with students between the ages of 6-60 and can always find a way for each student to succeed and feel confident. Though I have toured with different rock/pop groups over the years, my real pride is in teaching and I have taught many students who have won performance awards, acceptances into major music schools, and play at the professional level.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
This will vary depending on a students age, style, and goals, but generally I like to cover three areas in a lesson that include technique, performance material, and musicianship.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
This will vary depending on the student's age, but normally for a first lesson I want to learn what the student's goals and interests are so I can tailor the lessons accordingly. I always want to make sure that the student is learning music they they want to learn. If they have played before, I will ask them to play something that they enjoy playing, then ask a few questions to help gauge ability and what we can work on.
