My teaching approach :

My teaching approach: equip the student with skills and materials for the kind of music he or she wants to play. I usually require students learn reading skills along with technical studies. My pro experience includes recording with DSO and Gladys Knight, & road work with The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, and the Supremes' Mary Wilson, as well Michigan based jazz artists and broadway show companies.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following

First we review and maybe tweak previously learned material, and then we build on that to learn somehing new - a new piece, a new area of the fingerboard, a new technique, or even a new way of approaching music.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

In the first lesson, I ask what the student wants to accomplish, and I ask the student to play something he or she likes.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

The ideal guitar student is one who faithfully practices the assigned material, and goes beyond to find his or her own personal application.

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

Summer 2011: Tuesday and Thursday days and evenings, by arrangement. Fall 2011 TBA

Fee Schedule :

6 half-hour lessons, $108; 6 one-hour lessons, $216. 12 lessons, double.

My cancellation/booking policy :

Unexcused absences or cancellations within 24 hours will not be made up. Some rescheduling can be done in advance, but makeups not completed within 10 days of the absence will be lost.
