My teaching approach :

My approach is to be relaxed,encouranging and lots of patience. After many years of teaching students of all kinds, all ages, and all styles it is important to tune into what the student wants to learn. I have over 20 years experience teaching guitar. I have a Masters of Music Ed. with 21 years teaching elementary students.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following

Warmups followed by the students favorite piece. A reveiw of the last lesson. Practice and skill building on the last lesson. Introduce the next lesson or music and help the student to understand it. The end is usually some fun stuff and a short dicussion about the student and their lives.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

First, I examine and tune the students instrument. Then I asses their hands,phyiscal size,and nature. Ask what style or what they want to learn. If they are already playing I will comment on their posture, wrist location, finger stops and technique. If they are a beginner, then we will work on three simple chords and strumming.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

Students come in all ages, lifestyles, and interests when they seek music lessons. I have no ideal in mind when I meet and instruct students.I make every effort to create lessons that match the students desires. Of course students need to practice. Practice for their parents who pay for the lessons.

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

Corvallis: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday Newport: Friday and weekends Hours: 10:00am to 8;00pm

My influences are:

Anyone who plays guitar with good technique and style,reads music, and is professional in performance.

Fee Schedule :

15$ per half hour in student's home add 10$ 25 $ per hour first lesson is free payment by first or end of month,everyday, or what is convient for parents and students

My cancellation/booking policy :

Stuff happens. In the past, most students make a good effort to cancel or reschedule. It's my responsibility to create and teach lessons worthwhile so that students want to be there.
