My teaching approach :
I feel the fundamentals of music/performance/composition/arranging/etc can be absorb by any person no matter the skills or weaknesses in any area. For some it is harder then others, but in the end the study of sound on a basic level is achievable. Everyone is different, so everyone's teacher should teach accordingly. The only way this is ever going to come up is by communitcation between the student and teacher. I feel this is one of the vital components of any type of education. Thus all teaching materials/styles/etc are based on the student's personality and interest.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
The first lesson is mostly talking. Asking the student what they enjoy doing, what music they enjoy, why they would like to study music with a teacher, etc. After the first lesson, based on the student, educational tools will be used including recordings/books/'gear' and weekly assignments based on the interest of the student and what I feel the student needs to grow.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
(see above)
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
Someone who cares, and is willing to work for what he or she strives for. No stagnation, only forward motion.
