My teaching approach :
Simple and Fun! Helping others grow into great musicians is rewarding and fun. I've learned that from grade school to retirement, each student is a unique individual. My lessons reflect that fact so that we can reach all your goals together. No student is the same and your lessons shouldn't be uniform. My personal goal is to get my students to understand and write music that will stay with them and encourage them to continue. My studio is equipped with a Mac computer with recording capabilities that help with performance and songwriting. I have several books, videos and tracks.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
Each student is going to receive lessons based on their preferences of genre & style of music they desire to play. By working together, we focus on goals and problem solving to get you to the next level of play. I like to teach in 3 catagories: Technical play, Theory, and Song play. These things all tie into each other and you will learn how. Most importantly, we are going to have a blast while we learn to play music!
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
We talk about what music interests the student has and what the long term goal for the playing the instrument is. We will also go over the basics of the instrument, musical alphabet, reading music, and other beginner questions. For those that already play; we talk about concepts and your playing ability to form a plan for the future with clear goals that you want to reach.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
Someone who loves music, has a passion for learning, is curious, and practices regularly!
