My teaching approach :
I focus on helping students both learn about music and feel good making it. I have a Masters degree and a bachelors degree in guitar performance and love to teach! I teach all levels and all ages. You will get a very thorough guitar and music training in a relaxed environment. I've been teaching and performing guitar for over 15 years. I've played on cruise ships and have toured nationally and internationally. I've taught at community schools of music and music businesses in addition to maintaining my own lesson studio.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
I specialize in helping guitarists break out of "ruts" and get their playing to the next level - whether that means learning new music theory, breaking out of the pentatonic box, learning new chords, learning new styles or discussing ways of getting more and better gigs. I also offer the chance to have lessons recorded and then emailed in MP3 format following each lesson. This allows students the chance to review the material for the next lesson.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
For beginners I can help you learn to play dozens of songs within the first few weeks you're learning the guitar. For intermediate guitarists I can help you with new chords, scales, sight reading and theory. For advanced guitarists I can help you with career advice, advanced concepts and audition preparation.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
I'm looking for students with a passion to learn!
