My teaching approach :
I help my students obtain a thorough understanding of both the guitar and music theory. This allows you to be able to be creative rather than just reading tab and chord charts.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
Usually I will assign scales or songs (depending on your skill level). In order to try to keep my students from losing interest in guitar by assigning monotonous memorization of chords and scales, I try to introduce a new chord or scale with different songs so you learn and are able to play a song at the same time.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
I usually just ask them to play a song or two that they know. It doesn't have to be perfect or anything. I'm really looking for how much they know and possible gaps in their knowledge rather than their "ability".
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
Nothing thrills me more than teaching someone who wants to be taught. Practice is incredibly important. I really just want my students to practice and do their best.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
I am not available on Wednesday from 5-7 pm or Friday from 3-5 pm. Also I am not available on Sundays. All other times are open. (If one of my unavailable times is the only time you can meet, please call and we'll see if we can work something out.)
My influences are:
Too many to say but the two men who made me fall in love with the guitar were Jimmy Page and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Fee Schedule :
I go to school and am seeking a music therapy degree which is pretty flexible but is very time consuming. Therefore pretty much the only thing I do in my free time is play hockey or just rest.
My cancellation/booking policy :
Lessons cost $80 per month. This is for 4 half hour lessons. If, say you have a lesson on a Tuesday, there are five Tuesdays in a month, you would have a lesson every week except for on the second Tuesday. Payment is due on the last lesson of every month for the following month. Cancellations will not be refunded.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Cash, Checks
