My teaching approach :
I try to put lessons together, that dovetail with the students interests. We can learn songs in the students favorite style, and along the way, learn theory. Students can also learn theory and note reading.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
I would show you basic chords, and find out what styles, artists you enjoy. We would then move on to study in your favorite styles.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
I'll see what they know, and try to fill in any missing pieces. I'll see what chords they know, scales if any. See what kind of repertoire then have. Find out their interests and goals.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
When they are enthusiastic, ready to learn, and put in regular practice between lessons.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
Half hour spots, Monday through Saturday. Contact me, or stop in at Jacobsen Music for more information and/or openings.
My influences are:
Lots of rock, blues, country and some jazz players. I am very eclectic. I like music from all eras and genres and styles.
Fee Schedule :
Half Hour lessons, 20 dollars per half hour. Students pay by the month, due at the beginning of the month.
My cancellation/booking policy :
Try to let me know a week in advance at least, if you are going to be absent. Last minute cancellations will be handled on a case by case basis. If you call, maybe we can reschedule it.
