Lessons are in the traditional format. The student plays the assigned material, we then address any issues at hand. I usually use a combination of technical exercises, etudes, and concert repertoire to provide a well rounded approach to playing.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

It depends on the level of the student. With advanced students I would have them play a couple of pieces, then assess their playing and formulate a plan to best address their needs and desires. With a beginner, the first lesson typically covers proper sitting position, posture, right hand position and executing basic strokes.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

The ideal student is one who is able to maintain some type of regular practice routine, even if it is only a small amount. The lessons are much for fun for both student and teacher when the student is prepared!

Currently weekends only, mornings through early afternoon. Most students come every other week.

Multiple influences from many styles of playing. I grew up playing rock, studied jazz for a while, then got involved with classical guitar.
