Each student is unique in their goals and what they would like to learn. Lessons are created to help the student get the most out of their guitar playing. Worksheets or workbooks will be used to help the student learn various guitar techniques, song, etc.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
Guitar lessons are tailored to the student so it would vary. We would first take a look at the prior lessons materials. I would let the student play the songs or techniques we have been working on or I would accompany playing if it were for improvisation. We would make note of things that can be improved upon and write any additional notes. If I feel the student is ready to move on to something new, we will continue progressing to new techniques.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
For beginners, I will explain to different parts and how to tune the guitar. We will then start to get the student playing the guitar immediately by teaching a few basic chords and a simple strum pattern to get them going. For those with guitar background, I will have them play a few songs they know or improvise over a chord progression to see assess lead and rhythm skills. I will ask them what they are interested in learning.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
Ideal guitar student can commit 30 min. a day or 2 hours a week to practicing their lessons. They would be highly motivated and not afraid to ask questions in lessons.
