My teaching approach :
One of the hardest things for me to learn as a teacher was that everyone plays guitar for their own reason. When I first started teaching, I thought everyone who took lessons wanted to be the next Steve Vai and practiced for 10 hours a day, but thats not how it is. So over the years my teaching style has adapted to whatever it is my students want to learn. Whether its learning a Foo Fighters song, or soloing over Giant Steps, I want to teach it to you and help you get where you want to be as a guitarist. I am 20 years old and currently attending my 2nd year at Berklee College of Music.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
Lessons really differ on a a student to student basis. But in general I try to do a good mix of whatever it is the student wants to learn and exercises to help them get where they want to be.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
I usually start the first lesson off with a jam just to see where the student is and how they play. There is a fair amount of talking and finding out the personal goals of the student and getting to know one another.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
The ideal student is someone who just loves to play and learn about guitar. Students with that kind of attitude always have fun in the lessons.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
Monday: 12PM - 8PM Tuesday: 6:30PM - 8PM Thursday: 6:30PM - 8PM
My influences are:
Led Zeppelin, Tool, Jimi Hendrix, Alice in Chains, Pink Floyd, Alter Bridge, Black Sabbath, Dream Theater, Jeff Beck, Guthrie Govan, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Periphery are some of the artists that inspire me to play.
