My teaching approach :

Having a degree in guitar, I take my teaching and performing education and experience to give students enriching lessons. For younger students, I use the Suzuki method of learning to help inspire them and get them excited about playing the guitar. This method is very hands-on and structured for kids. For older students, I help them select songs or pieces they are interested in that will steadily help their development on the guitar. I also incorporate music theory and technique exercises to give students a more well-rounded understanding of the guitar.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following

First, we do a couple of simple warm-ups. Second, we review what the student has worked on for the past week. I address any questions or concerns and see how the student is progressing. Third, we work on something new and develop a new weekly goal. Fourth, we review what we have learned in the lesson and see if there are any questions or concerns.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

If a student already plays the guitar, I like to see him or her play for a little while to see what all he or she knows. I usually ask about their knowledge of chords, notes, and different techniques. For beginner students, I talk with them to see if they have specific long-term guitar goals such as a particular song or style they would like to play. On the first lesson, the student will learn a few notes that make up a simple song

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

An ideal guitar student enjoys music, is willing to take suggestions for playing the guitar, and is comfortable asking questions. An ideal guitar student should also be on time for lessons and follow my lesson policy.

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

Monday - Friday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Saturday: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Sunday: no lessons

All of my music teachers from when I was 7 years old through college are my main influences as a teacher.

Fee Schedule :

Lesson rates: $15/half hour $30/hour Payment: Payment is made monthly by the first lesson of each month. Please note that some months contain 5 weeks instead of 4.

My cancellation/booking policy :

To cancel or reschedule a lesson, I must be notified at least one full day before the scheduled lesson. I allow one cancellation per month. A canceled lesson will be reimbursed the following month. Cancellations without prior noticed will not be reimbursed. My full guitar lesson policy and contract is available for download from my website.
