My teaching approach :
I create a custom lesson plan based on where you, the student, want to go with your guitar playing. The only way you'll actually practice is if you enjoy what you're doing! Don't sit through boring scales and "Mary Had a Little Lamb" when what you really want to be playing is in your reach. I enjoy helping my students reach their goals on the acoustic and electric guitars.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
A guitar lesson with me usually involves learning the guitar in a practical way - through the songs you choose. I'll teach a good mix of theory and songs to make you a well rounded student.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
In an introductory lesson, I'll ask you to play me what you can or give me a history lesson of who you are and how you came to be interested in the guitar. Depending on where you're at and where you want to be, I'll start creating the custom lesson plan right there. I assess playing ability on a very individual basis, and have to use a lot of criteria - rhythm, how you hear music, technique, quirks - it all goes into consideration.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
One that practices, lets me be the teacher, and has fun playing the guitar! Part of music is that you should enjoy playing with other people, and so I want to enjoy that experience with my students.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
I teach lessons any time of day Monday through Wednesday, and sometimes Thursdays depending on the situation.
My influences are:
Gungor, John Mark McMillan, Muse, Gaslight Anthem, etc... too many to mention!
Fee Schedule :
My rate is a flat $75 per month - that generally is 4-5 half hour lessons, except for months that include a holiday that falls on your day of lessons.
My cancellation/booking policy :
We work with students on this, but generally I don't allow a missed lesson to be rescheduled. If I miss a lesson for extenuating circumstances I do my best to let you know as far in advance as possible. If you end up only having two lessons for the month because of holidays and other circumstances, you'll only be charged for half that rate. Normally it evens out between the 5 and 3 lesson months.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Cash, Credit Cards, Checks, Paypal
I have been teaching guitar for:
4 Year(s)
