My teaching approach :

I cater to the student's interest, but encourage learning to read treble clef. I also teach chord charts, fingerstyle, classical guitar, and basic pop and jazz. I am a member of the Baltimore Classic Guitar Society Ensemble and play with several contemporary groups.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following

A new student is introduced to chord charts first to get playing fast. A typical lesson includes warmups, note reading, working on songs in progress and a new song or technique.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

I find out what the student already knows and what they would like to learn and styles they are interested in. I have them show me something about what they know so far, or if they are new, I show them how chord charts work and the types of things they will be learning.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

Someone who likes a variety of styles and who is patient with themselves. I encourage learning treble clef and ensemble playing, so I like students open to that. If the student is willing to sing, that's a bonus!

Tues., Fri., and Sat. afternoons/evenings.

Fee Schedule :

Tuition is $130/mo., which includes quarterly ensemble.

My cancellation/booking policy :

Lessons are paid by the month. There is no reduction in tuition for missed lessons, but a lesson can sometimes be swapped for a different time. Most school holidays and snow days are days off.
