My teaching approach :
I am currently accepting new students of all ages in the Asheville area. Teaching guitar, for me, is more than just music lessons. Because of my background, my ultimate goal is not simply for you or your child to learn how to play an instrument. In addition to my 16 years of music experience, I am also a Ph.D. level psychologist and owned a private practice for 10 years in Atlanta, GA where I specialized in assessing and treating various types of learning disabilities such as ADHD, Dyslexia, and Autism. During this time I also toured professionally as a musician, which I continue to do today.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
I tailor each lesson to the individual student while also following a lesson plan format. Depending on the student's level when they enter lessons, we may start with the very basic introduction to the guitar, the string names, proper finger positions, scales, introductory chords, & strumming patterns. Very early on, I determine the musical interest of the student and incorporate the use of their favorite songs as teaching tools.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
The first lesson always involves more discussion of the students interests and goals, while determing whether they have any past experience with guitar or music theory in general. Much of this introductory lesson involves just determing the fit between each other. I also try to give the student a 1st lesson on basic introduction to guitar concepts and even show them a basic chord which might be used in one of the favorite songs.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
My ideal student is anyone who wants to learn. I have experience in all types of learning styles and specialize in students who may experience attention or learning difficulties in school.

My influences are vast ranging from country to heavy metal.

My cancellation/booking policy :
I request a 24 hour cancellation notice.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
