My teaching approach :
It's important to me that you enjoy my lessons and have fun with the guitar. The more you enjoy playing, the more you're going to play. I've been playing professionally for over thirty years in too many groups to mention. My bands have opened for numerous recording artists, including some you may have heard of. Currently I'm playing with four different groups. Big Pete Pearson (Arizona's King of the Blues) and the Blues Sevilles, The Tumblers (my rock and Northern Soul band), The Shambles (my own blues band), and Honey Don't ( my jazz/blues duo).
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following
My lessons will start with a brief review of the last lesson and I help with any problems or difficulties they may have had with it. We then move on to the next step, and I make sure they understand whatever new material I'm giving them. The lesson usually ends with me playing the new material along with them so I can make sure they'll be working on the right things. There's usually some jamming that takes place.
Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following
I find out where the student is at with the instrument by asking lots of questions and having the student play. I also ask what the student wants to learn from me, and what type of music they're interested in. I assess the students ability by having them play and by playing along with them.
The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following
A student who practices every day, attends weekly (or by-weekly) lessons, doesn't bounce checks, and most importantly, loves to play guitar.
Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:
Monday through Friday after 4:00, some weekend mornings, depending on how late I was up gigging the night before.
My influences are:
BB King, Albert King, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Freddie King, Carlos Santana, Chuck Berry, Kieth Richards, Robben Ford, Harry Jacobson, Danny Gatton, Coco Montoya, James Hunter, and Buddy Miller.
Fee Schedule :
Twenty dollars for a full hour at my place, twenty five dollars for a full hour at their place. Things become much more negotiable if I'm paid in advance.
My cancellation/booking policy :
I feel really strongly that we need to stick to a steady schedule, but I won't even consider charging for a canceled lesson unless I arrive at the student's place and they're not there, or they don't show up at my place without canceling in advance.
Which methods of payment are accepted?
Cash, Checks
I have been teaching guitar for:
25 Year(s)
