My teaching approach :

I teach guitar, bass and ukulele to students of any age. I evaluate each student and formulate a lesson plan geared towards them reaching their musical goals as soon as possible. I supply all written materials. I also record material as needed and supply students with MP3's to practice along with. In addition to teaching performance, I teach sight reading, theory, writing (music & lyrics), band performance, etc. I am always willing to meet a student at a local music store to assist them in choosing an instrument or equipment. I am open to anything that helps a student learn. I work for you!

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following

After the first lesson, each lesson consists of review of previous weeks material (playing), assigning new materials, playing new materials and writing up a work sheet for the upcoming week. Home work is always assigned between lessons.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following

I have the student play as best they can and assess their skill level. If the student is a true beginner, we cover the instrument parts, names etc. - assign homework to have student begin playing scales and a beginning song. I employ the Kodaly Method, graded music exams, one to three chord songs, right and left hand techniques, as well as sight reading. For advanced students, I can employ Berklee College of Music curriculum.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

Tuesday through Thursday, 10AM to 7PM. Saturday, 10AM to 5PM. Other times available by pre-paid appointment only.

My influences are:

Clapton, Pink Floyd, Eagles, Lyle Lovett, Marvin Gaye, Blues, Motown, Classic Rock, Alternative, Folk, Country, Bluegrass, singer/songwriter style.

Fee Schedule :

$20 per 30 minute lesson, $35 per 60 minute lesson, paid in cash at each lesson. Lessons booked and paid in advance are discounted as follows: Four 30 minute lessons (in one month) paid in advance are $70.00. Four 60minute lessons (in one month) paid in advance are $120.00. I will always work with students/parents to be fair.

My cancellation/booking policy :

Open scheduling one week in advance. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance - with no cancellation fee. If 3 sessions are canceled and rescheduled, I may require prepayment to schedule future appointments. I will always work with students/parents to be fair.
